SECRECY AROUND CYBERSECURITY AND NUCLEAR EXPERTS WORKING BEHIND THE SCENES OF OFFICIAL INVESTIGATION OF EUROPEAN NEAR BLACKOUT

Datum: April 15th, 2021, 8:35pm

Shadowy developments accompany the aftermath of the all-European near blackout from January. Exclusive information points to cyber-attacks, despite increasingly desperate-sounding official declarations of a technical source for the blackout which almost crippled the entirety of European energy distribution…

According to the Article 15 of the Commission Regulation (EU) 2017/1485, for a Scale 2 event such as the one of 08 January 2021, an Expert Investigation Panel shall be set up following the all-European near blackout. The Expert Investigation Panel will produce a report which describes in detail the sequence of events, root causes and – if applicable – necessary actions to undertake in order to prevent similar events in the future. Officials are denying any claims that this was a cyber attack, instead, they are officially calling upon “experts from various fields” to find the culprit for the near-massive blackout. Although there are some disturbing signs that there might be more to this story, as our sources have picked up, namely that the first investigating bodies deployed to resolve the issue mostly include cyber security experts (indicating a cyber attack, despite officials flat out denying this possibility). However, another leak suggests that the IAEA is also involved in setting up the panel of “independent” experts – might there even be a NUCLEAR dimension related to the event? Since roughly 26,4% of the energy produced in the European Union comes from nuclear power plants (a fact widely ignored by national and transnational ecological groups) this might not come as a complete surprise!
